Secret Brooklyn was singled out as ‘Distinguished Favourite’ in the
Travel Section of the NYC Big Book Award
“One of the weirdest and most glorious museums this weird and glorious city has ever seen”, one of only two trees that have been designated as New York City landmarks, the oldest building in New York City, the hobbit doors of Dennet Place, a park with only one tree, learn how to breathe fire, swallow swords, hammer a nail into your skull and charm a snake, the oldest subway tunnel in the world, world’s smallest Torah, a secret museum built into the hallway of a Williamsburg apartment, a farm inside Domino Sugar factory site, world’s first commercial rooftop vineyard…
Far from the crowds and the usual clichés, Brooklyn offers countless off-beat experiences and is home to any number of well-hidden treasures that are revealed only to residents and travellers who find their way off the beaten track. An indispensable guide for those who thought they knew Brooklyn well or would like to discover the other face of the city.

The creators of the long-running Vegas hit show, Absinthe, thought it was about time to put on another show. Cue OPIUM. Spiegelworld (by special arrangement with Harry M. Howie) has announced OPIUM will launch its world premiere run at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on March 13, 2018.
Veteran promoter Harry M. Howie first approached Absinthe producer and host The Gazillionaire with the idea for a new show and the opportunity for Gaz to become the lead investor
“OPIUM has been on my radar for some time now and I truly believe I have a cosmic calling to make this show happen,” said Harry M. Howie today. “I’ve been charting the numbers and reading the signs and I am seeing the planets align like never before. The time is now for something very different in Las Vegas. When The Gazillionaire told me to get lost he said the idea of a group of unknown performers and musicians putting on a comedy show in Vegas was insane. Then out of the blue, the team at Spiegelworld stepped up and agreed to present the show with me. Las Vegas is just the beginning. I am already in discussions with Elon Musk about funding the very first show on Mars.”
Spiegelworld’s Impresario Extraordinaire Ross Mollison said, “When I first agreed to let The Gazillionaire introduce me to Harry M. Howie I was intrigued. We are very excited to be making a brand new show in Vegas, for Vegas, and we are thrilled to be returning to The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to create an intimate parlor of idiocy in the showroom at Rose. Rabbit. Lie.”
WHAT IS OPIUM? – The creators of ABSINTHE are taking us on a trip to a new dimension of entertainment. It’s fast, funny and funky. It’s completely off the planet. Remember the good old days when you relaxed into a Las Vegas showroom with a martini in hand while a pack of comedians and crooners bantered in front of the house band? Neither do we, but it sure as hell didn’t look like this. This is the show that Elon Musk will want to take to Mars. So, slip through the crack in the space/time continuum for a close encounter with a spaceship of fools.
Harry M. Howie is a veteran Australian journalist, newspaper proprietor, promoter, public speaker, celebrant and podcast host. Having just moved to Las Vegas and still waiting to obtain a local SIM card, please refer all press enquiries to Kirvin Doak.

The Seychelles Tourism Board, which strongly believes that the continuous training of travel agents working to sell the destination is a key and more cost-effective marketing tool has once again taken part in the Travel Trade Roadshow (TTR) Baltic. The roadshow took place in each of the three Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
The 2017 edition of TTR Baltic was held from November 14 to 16, 2017, in the capital cities of Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. The Seychelles Tourism Board was represented by Senior Marketing Executive, Amia Jovanovic-Desir. Over the three days travel agents were invited to meet with representatives of tourism boards, airlines, destinations among others. Through workshops conducted in each country, the participants were able to obtain valuable information and they also had the opportunity to establish new contacts and business opportunities through business to business meetings.
Travel Agents in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia confirmed that there is great interest to push and feature Seychelles as a holiday destination. However, they highlighted a lack of knowledge about the destination and its products as one of the constraints, which makes it hard to better sell Seychelles to potential holidaymakers.
The Seychelles Tourism Board’s Senior Executive, Amia Jovanovic-Desir, said: “This showcases the need for us to conduct more training for trade agents, particularly in places where we do not have an office or representation, with the aim of broadening their knowledge and creating more demand to sell Seychelles.”
“It is worth mentioning, however, that there is a strong pool of agents who are creating awareness and promoting the various range of accommodations, ranging from small hotels and guesthouses to large hotels, which creates a perfect balance of what Seychelles has to offer,” she added.
Air connectivity remains the key to ensure the sustainability of the tourism industry. The TTR Baltic was hence an opportunity for the Seychelles Tourism Board to promote recently introduced flights and upcoming flights to the destination in 2018. While the news of more airlines serving the destination, especially from Europe in 2018, was very much welcomed, the majority of travel agents who attended the three city roadshow confirmed that Turkish Airlines was their clients’ preferred choice of airline.
Some of the travel agents conveyed their words of appreciation for having received ample knowledge about Seychelles, adding that they were enticed to visit the destination and were now more confident to promote the destination.
“Through her presentation, Amia brought me to Seychelles and I had the feeling that I was there for a while,” said Ortygia of Vanilla Travel. The travel agents were able to take part in a lucky draw, standing the chance to win exciting prizes, and the Seychelles Tourism Board also awarded a prize to a couple in Estonia who had shown great interest in the destination.
On 20 November 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithaunia Linas Linkevičius received the world renowned painter Samuel Bak and his wife, Heidy Josee Bak. Bak currently paints and lives outside of Boston in Weston, Massachusetts. He is visiting Lithuania on the occasion of the opening of his museum. The painter, who has survived the Holocaust, donated over 50 valuable paintings to Lithuania. He was born in Vilnius in 1933.
In the meeting, the guest told Linkevičius about his relationship with Lithuania, his return and the return of his artistic works to Vilnius, also how the unexpected fate helped him escape death and later come back to Lithuania. Lithuanian diplomats, who work in Washington and New York, have contributed considerably to the establishment of the Samuel Bak Museum in Vilnius, to the promotion of Bak’s ties with Lithuania, and to the resolution of organizational issues.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister told the guest about initiatives to search for and to preserve objects of Lithuanian Jewish heritage. He also emphasized that not only those who saved lives, but also those who saved cultural values could be called the Righteous Among the Nations.
Samuel owes his life to three noble people – the Righteous Among the Nations – Marija Mikulska, Juozas Stakauskas and Valdas Žemaitis, who had hid him for several months in the archives of the Bernardine church.
The Vilnius City Tourism and Business Development Agency Go Vilnius is now headed by Inga Romanovskienė. I. Romanovskienė, winner of a public competition announced by the Municipality who had previously worked as Acting Director of the company, says that she perfectly understands the extent of the responsibility and is ready for the interesting, albeit not easy challenges.
“Go Vilnius is expected to take active actions that will help new multinational companies establish their branches in Vilnius, create high value-added jobs, support and care for the established companies and make sure that the guests of Vilnius include it in the list of must-visit cities. I will strive for the team of Go Vilnius to be strong, motivated, competent and result-oriented. Together with the team we will send the message about Vilnius to the world, take care of the incoming businesses, guests and residents and implement changes necessary for Vilnius to become a strong competitor among the European cities”, – says Inga Romanovskienė.
Currently, the agency has 34 employees in the tourism, business and marketing departments, with almost one third of them taking care of the tourists in the city’s tourist information centres.
Vilnius is an ambitious city; therefore, the agency needs a strong, demanding and responsible manager. Before, I. Romanovskienė worked as Go Vilnius Head of Marketing for almost a year, managed the image department of UAB Maxima Lt for four years and accumulated a lot of valuable work experience in the fields of commerce and marketing.
According to I. Romanovskienė, the immediate challenges and activities are to show the advantages of Vilnius in the targeted tourism channels, to improve the accessibility of Vilnius by air, to present Vilnius at the international tourism and business events and, of course, to attract as many tourists as possible during the winter holidays.
In the longer term the new director says she will work towards closer cooperation with partners, reducing the seasonality of tourism and increasing the competitiveness of Vilnius among the potential investors and talents.
Go Vilnius is the official Vilnius City Tourism and Business Development Agency established in May 2016, expanding the activities of Vilnius Tourist Information Centre and Conference Bureau. The main task of the agency is to ensure the international competitiveness of the city. www.vilnius.lt
