Riga, Latvia’s capital, is a city that has enthralled locals and tourists for centuries. Its picturesque old town, complete with its collection of Art Nouveau buildings and informative museums, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
Visitors, whether they arrive for business or pleasure, should be sure to visit some of the city’s most impressive landmarks, including Riga Castle, situated on the bank of the River Daugava, and the Freedom Monument, commemorating those who died during the Latvian War of Independence.
Those looking for somewhere to stay when exploring Riga’s many highlights would be wise to consider Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel, the biggest conference hotel in the Baltics. The hotel’s location in the city centre means the most popular sights are just a few minutes walk away, while the onsite leisure facilities, including a spa centre and casino, ensure that there’s plenty to do without even stepping foot outside the hotel.
Corporate travellers staying at the hotel will have access to a conference and event centre that is more than 3,661sq m in size and has 16 adaptable, state-of-the-art meeting rooms capable of hosting 2,500 people. Conference rooms are fitted with high-speed internet, a top-quality sound system and HD projectors.
With 571 rooms and suites, the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel has enough different types of accommodation to ensure all travellers are catered for. Even so, the Radisson Hotel Group has more to offer, boasting seven hotels within Riga. Clearly, it’s not just the city’s wonderful landmarks that will leave visitors spoilt for choice.

The U.S. Travel Association has announced that its annual trade show, IPW, will next be held in Las Vegas from Septeember 18-22, 2021. Last year’s IPW, scheduled to convene in Las Vegas on May 30, 2020, was forced to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The previously scheduled 2021 host city, Chicago, agreed to step aside for next year and will assume the host mantle in 2025.
“This is incredibly welcome good news amid the serious challenges facing the travel industry, the country and the world,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow. “Cancelling IPW 2020 was difficult though clearly necessary call and our future host cities came together to achieve a win-win outcome for the future of the event.”
Dow continued: “As we look to recover from this health emergency and the resulting economic crisis, it is fitting that we will be able to hold IPW in Las Vegas, a city that epitomizes the economic power of travel and tourism. We are deeply grateful to Chicago, which had one of the most successful IPWs in recent memory as a first-time host in 2014, for their flexibility, generosity and collaborative spirit.”
Other future host sites—Orlando in 2022, San Antonio in 2023, and Los Angeles in 2024—remain unchanged.
IPW is the country’s leading international inbound travel trade show, driving $5.5 billion in future travel to the United States. At IPW, travel buyers (including international tour operators, wholesalers and receptive operators) meet face-to-face with sellers of U.S. travel product (representing accommodations, destinations, attractions, retail, transportation companies and more), transacting business that would otherwise be generated only through an exhaustive number of around-the-world trips.
Another serendipity from the reshuffling of dates: IPW 2021 will be held in the newly constructed West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“Thank you to the leadership at the U.S. Travel Association for inviting Las Vegas to host its IPW 2021 trade show,” said Steve Hill, CEO/President of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. “Like many of our industry colleagues, we are anxious to contribute to the travel and tourism recovery efforts, and know that IPW bringing travel trade decision-makers from across the globe together is an important step in that process.”
“Brand USA is honoured to serve as the Premier Sponsor for the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW. As the nation’s destination marketing organization, IPW offers Brand USA the biggest stage and brightest lights to showcase our collective success to a global network of key industry stakeholders,” said Christopher Thompson, Brand USA President and CEO. “We look forward to the opportunity to reconnect with industry friends and remind the world about all of the diverse destinations and amazing experiences across the United States. We will see you back in Las Vegas in 2021.”
“This important decision was a collaboration between U.S. Travel and
Choose Chicago. Having the privilege of hosting IPW in June of 2025 in
Chicago will be a tremendous opportunity for us and our partners,” said
David Whitaker, President and CEO of Choose Chicago. “Equally
important, we look forward to travelling to Las Vegas next year to
continue our partnership and engagement with the global travel

The Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) is among the first convention centres in the USA to pursue a new facility accreditation focused on cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention designed to control the risks associated with infectious agents, including the virus responsible for COVID-19.
The Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), the world’s leading trade association for the cleaning industry, today introduced its GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation program as the industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation. The LVCC will be one of the first convention centres in the nation to participate in the programme, which will train employees with best work practices, protocols, procedures and systems for prevention and containment.
“The health and safety of our employees and our visitors is always the top priority for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and our facility, the Las Vegas Convention Center,” said Brian Yost, Chief Operating Officer for the LVCVA. “We’re grateful to the GBAC STAR program for creating the industry’s only outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation, and we’re proud to be among the first wave of leaders to pursue this accreditation. Demonstrating compliance will be an important step toward showing the world that Vegas means business, and when the time is right, the Las Vegas Convention Center stands ready to welcome our business travellers back.”
To achieve GBAC STAR accreditation, facilities must demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures.
“GBAC STAR is the gold standard of safe facilities, providing third-party validation that ensures facilities implement strict protocols for situations,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “Accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers, and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to deliver clean and healthy environments that are safe for business.”
The GBAC STAR accreditation is also ideal for facilities such as offices, restaurants, hotels, airports, stadiums and other public venues of all sizes. To learn more about GBAC STAR accreditation, visit www.gbac.org. For more information about the Las Vegas Convention Center, visit www.vegasmeansbusiness.com
