Orlando, FL (June 7, 2022)—At a press conference today during IPW—a leading generator of US inbound international travel—in Orlando, Florida, NYC & Company announced new and future destination updates and initiatives, underscoring New York City’s unparalleled vibrancy, diversity, and welcoming spirit. Fred Dixon, NYC & Company’s president, and CEO predicted that by year’s end, the City would recapture over 80 percent of its record 2019 visitation levels as the tourism industry recovers and as New York City once again proves its resilience and indomitable spirit.

“New York City is experiencing an extraordinary revival, with the iconic sites visitors know and love, plus many dynamic, new developments across all five boroughs,” said Fred Dixon, President, and CEO of NYC & Company. “From our world-class attractions, hotels, and Broadway shows to the authentic small businesses, and diverse experiences found across neighborhoods citywide, NYC is back in a big way and already welcoming visitors from around the globe.”

In addition to highlights of What’s New in New York City, Dixon presented NYC & Company initiatives, including the new Get Local NYC campaign, recently-launched multicultural content hubs on NYCGO.com, and a new Halal Travel Guide and the upcoming 30th Anniversary of NYC Restaurant Week.

Destination highlights include 12,000 new hotel rooms coming online in the next three years with new properties such as Aman New York and NYC’s second Ritz-Carlton debuting this summer; more than 20 new Broadway shows from classic revivals to innovative debuts; and upcoming developments and openings across infrastructure and transportation, with upgrades across the region’s three major airports; arts and culture including the brand-new Museum of Broadway, The Louis Armstrong Center and the American Museum of Natural History’s Gilder Center opening this year, with The American LGBTQ+ Museum and the Universal Hip Hop Museum coming soon; performing arts venues such as Lincoln Center’s reimagined David Geffen Hall debuting in October and the iconic Apollo Theater expansion next year; culinary highlights from new fine dining establishments to unique food halls across the five boroughs; retail including the renovated Tiffany & Co. Flagship on Fifth Avenue and the return of Century 21; big events including NYC Pride, the New York City E-Prix, the US Open Tennis Championships and summer programming across five boroughs this summer; and more. 

During IPW, NYC & Company issued an updated press resource on 22 Reasons to Visit New York City in 2022 and a brand-new “What’s New + Trending in NYC” video for the media and trade.

The organization also announced the latest iteration of its neighborhood-centric Get Local NYC campaign, inspiring visitors to explore Manhattan Like a New Yorker. Originally launched in March, the new five-borough initiative encourages visitors to support small businesses citywide. Guides to Brooklyn Like a New Yorker and Bronx Like a New Yorker have already been released, with features on Staten Island and Queens set to launch this summer. 

This summer also marks the 30th Anniversary of NYC Restaurant Week, from July 18-August 21. To commemorate this historic milestone, NYC & Company plans to launch a “Year of Culinary” in New York City.

Recently-launched multicultural platforms on NYCGO.com include The Black Experience in NYC, The Latino Experience in NYC, and the latest addition, The Asian Experience in NYC.NYC & Company is also the first US tourism organization to produce a Halal Travel Guide for Muslim visitors and continues to update visitor information on LGBTQ+ NYC and Accessible NYC.

Luxe Collection Brings First Luxe Hotel to NYC – Silvija Travel Tips

The best places to visit on an Epic American Road Trip

America is famously a country of multitudes, a melting pot of cultures, and incredible geographic and human diversity. New York City

New York City is one of the most international and culturally significant cities in the world. Washington, D.C.

Just a four hour drive from New York is the seat of American political power: Washington, D.C. Politics isn’t all D.C. has to offer, though; once you’ve seen the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court, walk the beautiful streets of Georgetown and check out one of D.C.’s best restaurants. Las Vegas

Monument Valley

New Orleans

A unique mix of European, Cajun, and Creole cultures, NoLA offers a seemingly endless array of activities. Visit the famous Café du Monde, have a drink on rowdy Bourbon Street, and take a stroll through the beautiful antebellum architecture of the Garden District.

Appalachian Mountains

The Appalachian Mountains offer stunningly beautiful nature, and have a rich cultural history and tradition for any visitor to explore. A drive around the crests of the region’s mountains is an unforgettable experience, as is pitching a tent in one of the area’s gorgeous forests.

                           

Nashville

Nashville may be the country music capital of the world, but that’s not all it is. This bustling city has become a foodie destination with standout restaurants like The Catbird Seat and Husk, and a has a spate of excellent boutiques, like Emerson Grace. Don’t miss the chance to line dance downtown.

Memphis

Another musical city, Memphis was the home of American icon Elvis Presley. Graceland, where he resided, is a must-visit. Afterwards, make sure you try legendary Memphis barbecue before heading to Beale Street’s bars to listen to some of the best blues musicians in the world.

 

San Francisco

Your final road trip stop, and a must-visit on any trip to the States, is San Francisco. Although the Golden City has become synonymous with the technology industry, there is much more to the city than Twitter and Facebook. Walk the famous Golden Gate Bridge, take in the buzz at the Marina, and check out the residual hippie culture of the Haight-Ashbury district.

East Texas

San Antonio

The Mexican influence is strong in San Antonio, not least because of the Alamo, the famous last battle between the United States and Mexico that resulted in Texas becoming a part of the former. After you’ve visited, stroll along the famous River Walk and have what’s sure to be an excellent meal at one of the city’s many Mexican eateries.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park

Explore the enormous Carlsbad Caverns National Park, which is one of the largest caverns in the world, and is still only partially explored. The Caverns are best explored right before sunset, when thousands of bats take flight from the roofs of the caves.

NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organization, today announced a new partnership with 20th Century Fox Film on a holiday campaign titled The Greatest New York City in support of the global release of The Greatest Showman film on December 20, 2017. Inspiring travel to New York City, the campaign showcases extraordinary experiences in NYC during the holiday season when the City puts on its greatest show, from the festive Fifth Avenue department store windows in Midtown Manhattan to the world’s largest gingerbread display at the New York Hall of Science in Queens. The Greatest Showman was shot in New York City, including Brooklyn’s Steiner Studios, Brooklyn Academy of Music and Brooklyn Armory. The movie was inspired by the life and imagination of P.T. Barnum, who lived and worked in New York City in the mid-1800s, and the City was where his work in show business came to life. The film stars Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya, and features original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The film hits theatres worldwide on December 20, 2017.

The holiday season is one of the greatest times of the year to experience New York City. The season began in late November with the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the iconic Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center.
